More or less just re-starting out, and trying to find my ground a little. I just need a starting point - Something I can refer back to later. Hopefully that makes sense?

Hadn't put for effort into taking a picture in months and came up with this. My husband likes it, but I'd like a more professional opinion.

Hi,

I like the composition but I think the petals look way too soft/out of focus. Too shallow DOF perhaps? You haven't included the EXIF data in the image so I can't see what your settings were and you didn't post them either...

Best regards,

Anton

Ahh, I see. Sorry about that. We got a new Canon S5 IS and I basically got it, walked right outside, and took this picture using all the auto settings to see how accurate they were. I'm slowly trying to bring back information that I learned in my photography class a few years ago and I'm getting there, but I'd forgotten a lot.

Thanks though! I've never posted to one of these sites before, so I'll keep all that in mind for next time.

haha yeah...that's certainly hijack material. but maybe sara can see what more flattering lighting, focus, and exposure can achieve...and maybe some saturation work in photoshop;)
