Identifiying a spider

Im afraid of spiders something fierce i got this spider out of my parents shed looking for wood to build my daughter a book case. Yum yeah i stopped everything i was doing bc i saw this thing ran and got my camera took a picture and was done. Does anyone know what kinda spider it is? I know its not a good shot but :oops:

Hi Heather;
Can't help you on the ID, but the guys in the Macro forum are pretty red-hot at ID'ing spiders...
Might be worth posting a link to this post in there...

Looks to be a Woodlouse spider (The Dysdera Crocata), web says they mainly feed on wood lice and aren't very poisonous though their bites can sometimes cause allergic reactions with people. They like warm places, especially logs :)

So the spider was looking for wood to build your daughter a book case? How nice. I've noticed that spiders have become much more gentile in years. I've been greeted by a few clamoring about the house on numerous occasions throughout the week. Not very polite, though.

But, yeah: it does look like a Woodlouse. Nice creatures, those spiders - keeping those insect numbers managed. Good stuff.
