I had to test 3200 (max for 1Ds mkII), even though I never shoot above ISO400.

Canon 20D, Canon 135L - ISO1600, 1/1000th sec @ f/3.5, in pretty poor evening light - Made a nice 12"x8" :-)

Here is one I did when I was testing my kenko tubes out: 5D @ ISO3200 no noise reduction, just processed from raw.

It's a Japanese custom really that Hawaii has adapted for Memorial Day.

Basically you put your loved ones names that have passed away on the lantern and send it free into the ocean. Later on Lifeguard or similar officials go and collect the floating lanterns to recycle for next year. this is the 10th annual celebration.

This guy was lit by a single light inside a dark tea dance tent. 1/80 sec @ f5.6 ISO 1600, shot at 300mm on a 70-300 f4-5.6 IS USM lens.
