Graduation portrait

Hi there, this is going to be a print for some family. This is my sister who just graduated from college and i have put alot more time than i usually do in PS. let me know what you think.

I think that it looks very nice. The image is very sharp and shows good detail. I would like to suggest that you try lowering the exposure in the face only and perhaps increasing the contrast in the face (the Clarity control in ACR) to bring out more three dimensional appearance in the face.

Here is a quick edit of what I was describing. In addition, I used the burn tool to add a bit of shadow under the chin.

Except for the spot of sunlight on her cheek, it looks like blue sky provided the illumination. Warm it up a little.

Yep, I thought so too. The difference is subtle and easy to go too far. You have the most important piece of information in that you know what the picture needs to look like.

I think that I got bit by the old "if a little is good, then a lot surely must be better" syndrome. It may apply to some things, but post processing is not one of them.

im quoting you syndrome statement haha. i do it from time to time but usually catch myself.
