I added photography to my website and started to promote wedding photography for the first time. I used to do video.

I decided to put on a special offer for coverage & disc with upto 200 pics for £600. I know :o it's low. "It's a big pay cut from video as I was middle to hi-end." But I didn't expect such a quick rapid response. I got excited an had to post.

My intention was (is) to raise my prices every 3 bookings. I received 3 bookings in 3 days. No meetings, just over the telephone. One booked on the spot and another 2 rang me back within a few hours.

I didn't mind the low price because they are last minute and mostly Fridays. Very nice locations too. Boosts my portfolio very quickly.

It's given me a boost.

My prices have gone up and I'll see what happens. In another 3 bookings I will raise them again.

Is £700 for my work ridiculously low? Or should I continue working with my plan?

You're very kind. I am absorbing from this forum.
My next batch of weddings will provide me with a larger portfolio. The next few months will provide it.
I don't know how I feel about competing immediately with those who have been at it for years. I was thinking about getting a whole photography season out of the way.

Wow, 3 bookings in 3 days is great! Remember you have a lot of work after the shoot so your time is limited.

When we started adding photography to our other wedding services we were doing 4-hour events for $495 (250GBP). We just booked 3 events for next March and April for $1695 for 4-5 hours. Events booking in August thru September we're pricing at $995.

Vegas is different though, most of our work is from destination weddings, just the reception (no ceremonies), or e-sessions, or Las Vegas Strip picture tours, that type of stuff. We don't do a lot of "locals" photography so we only do a ceremony about 1 of every 5 or so events.
