I use a lid of Selecta Ice Cream as my lens cover.

I can put the 200mm IS with hood on + 5D2 into Think Tank Airport Accelerate 2.5v

The Leather Cap is very difficult to use due to it being designed too tightly.

Visit my Flickr (external link), Facebook (external link) & 500px (external link) and see my photos. :)

It's expensive for what it does, but I just went for it anyways...

and I use this bag specifically for this lens (with hood attached) and gripped 5D2.

I was just wondering, if you store the lens with hood attached, why do you need a lens cap? Since the camera will either be in the bag protected or in your hands being used

Absolutely and it works when the hoods turned around because its not very deep.

Smorter, I store my lens with the hood turned around and the cap on.

I've tried to keep my lens in perfect condition, but I found even with my care I have marked it in 2 ways:

On the lens name plate, I think I dropped another lens onto it so there's a scuff on the side of the name plate

In the groove where the hood attaches, some of the paint has worn off, even though I have not removed the plastic sticky bit.

And obviously the lens mount looks like a dog's breakfast after many rough mounts and dismounts

To be honest, I don't know... :D I just don't feel good leaving my front glass unprotected, even when kept inside the bag and with hood attached. Just babying I guess... :o

I have to turn the hood around for it to fit in the bag.
