OK, enough chit chat.

After dinner tonight there was an incredible beam of light coming through one of the Western windows in our living room, really awesome light.

Yeah, but the 1Ds is cheating, just a bit.

So, if Josh sends me the lens, I'll test it on a 1.3 crop body.

the pic of your daughter is fabulous. I love the shadows and light. Lighting half of the face is extremely effective. That would make an absolutely beautiful print.

Many thanks, Mark. I actually printed a5x7 out on my PIXMA 9000. The wife wasn't that crazy about it....Maybe I didn't saturate it enough? I, however, am rather fond of the shot. I love the half lit face effect.

Josh
I got back from a job last week and have been shooting for 3 days with the same combo:
1dsMkIII and a 200f/2. I am going to use it today with both of my extenders and see the results. Thus far my impressions are that this lens is the BEST LENS canon has ever produced. Physically, it is the perfect weight and dimensions for hand-held shooting as compared to the 300f2.8.
Image quality is astounding. I can not believe what I am seeing at 200% crops right on down. Sharp is an understatement. The Af is incredible!!

Anyway, If anyone is considering it. Go for it!!! Really the price is steep but its going to be a very long time before Canon produces a lens that will replace this one so you will get your money's worth easily.

Ill post pics later tonight. But had to let you all know that this thing is a champion.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing your shots. And it's nice to know I'm not totally out of my mind for also thinking this is the best lens Canon has ever produced. If any camera can show a lens' weaknesses it's is surely the 1Ds3. And thus far I see none, even wide open. In fact there hasn't been a lens I've owned that I didn't feel the need to stop down at least a third, especially on the 1Ds3. I don't feel that need with the 200/2.
