Awesome. I am still hesitant to send my lens to Canon Philippines to have it done. No one here has had their lens upgraded.

Well said! I dreamed of owning the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS 7 years ago (before the II even existed). I just went out and purchased the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II, paid full in cash. If you believe, you can achieve. Aim high. You might surprise yourself.

I guess from my standpoint, while this would be a dream lens, I can say with full confidence, I will never be able to drop $6000 in one shot on any SINGLE hobby. Sure, over time I could save up, but that kind of cash can go a long way when put toward other things. I think about it like this for example:

1. new kayak- $1000
2. new drysuit- $1000
3. new backcountry ski set up- $1000
4. maybe 85L- $1400
5. Super sweet family vacation- everything left over
...and this is being selfish, I should consider the wife and kids...

Now, If I had a little portrait gig on the side (which is very much a reality) I might justify investing to test the waters, then sell down the road if necessary. But I can't do it just to snap shots of my day to day living. So, in the meantime I'll just fantasize and enjoy the shots posted here!! :D
