A few years back i was laid off from my job of 15 years, trying to make car and mortgage payments, and had time to meet my future wife.

I'd had the house for just over a year before this lay off, and heating it was very costly (it's an 1800s barn/train station converted to a home, with open ceilings to the rafters in the living room)

The previous Spring I had found a used old Vermont Casting wood stove, but I lacked the funds to get it installed..

As the summer of new romance was turning into a chilly fall, Elizabeth said to me one evening "If you get that fireplace running i will never leave here"

Later that month she went home to Maryland to visit her parents. Upon her return the wood-stove was installed and heating the whole house like gangbusters.

The funds to do this was the sale of my other love, my 200mm f/1.8.

well of course we are now married, I have a new and better job, but with adopting a kid and keeping a family and house working, no longer being a single man in a cheap apartment, I was sure I'd never be able to make another purchase like the 200mm.

I am however more lucky than I deserve and on Wednesday I should have my (used but mint) 200mm f/2 :)

Looking forward to posting here!

I am however more lucky than I deserve and on Wednesday I should have my (used but mint) 200mm f/2 :)

Looking forward to posting here!

Congrats and this is a wonderful story. You are going to love having IS.....
