I think this is the only time I'll ever shoot this lens stopped down. Saw the sunrise so had to take a bracket exposure. Mild edit.

I love to see the photos you guys post in this thread, but i also hate it so much because i can't afford this beautiful piece of glass. :) :(

Keep on posting and i will be back although i hate it, but as The Borg says in Star Trek. Resistance is futile. :)

Should keep your eyes on Canon Refurbished website! Once in a while they will stock this!

I do look in here still and do miss posting in this thread but all Leica M now with no regrets.

The 200 2L is definitely one of Canon finest efforts when it come to glass. I had mine for 8 years and got about what I paid for it when it was new when I sold it so if you pick one up you probably wont loose $$$$ like you will on Canon bodies and most other Canon glass.

I'm late to the game on ownership. I suspect canon will release a new version now that they have new coatings/optic formulas for weight/size savings. The new 3 option IS also. They release a new one it'll be the same 5,600 new and will drive the used prices on the 200/2 down to the mid 3k range.

It might but I can't imagine any Canon lens being better than the 200 2L. It's as good as Canon gets. That, the 300 2.8 and the 400 2.8 are tops as far as rendering, sharpness and contrast in the Canon line up.
