Hi,
I've been asked to create a slideshow of photos and logos which is to be shown on a big screen during a dinner dance next week. What i'm trying to do is have photos displaying for a couple of mins, with who is in each one displayed underneath. Then fade into the next one, and repeat the process. Getting the photos to fade in and out is no problem but i'm having difficulty in trying to display who is in them. I also want to create some slides saying something along the lines of 'Welcome to X, Thanks to our Sponsors'. I'm using Proshow Gold to do this. From what i've read it's the best program to do this type of thing.
Any help in achieving this would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, it's a cracking program but a bugger to get working right at times! How about editing the pics in photoshop and put the names on the photos there and display them like: Normal photo - fade to photo with names - fade to next photo etc.

I didn't really use thee captions tool too much so I'm not too familiar with that aspect of proshow as yet!

This is trivial. Use the caption area to put the names at the bottom. If you need them all over the screen do multiple captions. If you're doing it with photos taken on the day allow 30-60 minutes, or have an assistant do it.

Like Tim said, double click on the slide and enter the name in the captions. You can then just drag the caption where you want it on the slide. Easy!

Yes, as other have indicated, double click on the slide and add the text in the caption box.

To create some slides to thank sponsors etc., select the last slide on your show. It should turn blue colour. Right click that slide and select 'Insert Blank Slide' from the pop-up menu. To add text to that slide, double click and type in text in the caption box.

I am in the process of creating a slideshow for a friend's 21st birthday.

I have ProShow Gold--what options does Producer offer that Gold does not? I am trying to figure out how to work with the audio-- I just dont get how to sync the slides with the music--does Producer make that easier?

Go to the audio feature of the show. There is a box where you add/remove music files to the show. There is also a 'sync audio to show' button ion that same display. Selec that button and the show will be synced with the audio. The more songs you have added to the show, the longer each picture will be displayed. This is so to match the length of the audio (all files). If you want to sync a certain song to a number of files, select the files (pictures) you want by using the ctrl inconjunction with your mouse. Then in the audio section, select the song you want then select the button 'sync audio with files' or something.

You don't need producer, gold does everything you need. Producer adds features mainly used by high volume pro users, but I never needed them even though i'm a high volume pro user.

I do slideshows for our scuba trips just for fun.....I have been taking 3 songs and combining them into one with Audacity, then putting that track into Gold and syncing it with the slideshow--I think I have a good grip on that. What I would like to do is have say 3 slides go by very fast, say just a second or two, and then the others for the normal amount of time. Maybe with the "beat" of the music? Is my problem having one long track instead of three?

Souwalker, is that how this is done?

Many thanks.

Just change the duration of the slides to 0.3 seconds, or whatever you want. Syncing with music is quite time consuming, so I don't.

Yeah, that is the impression I am getting and I dont have that kind of time. I have seen some really good (powerful) syncs with photos to music though. Thanks for the input!
