For the past few months, I been photographing a lot of different waterfowl species. Here's a couple Northern Shovelers.

How did you get so close to them??? The two who landed here in the lake were very shy!
Terrific shots, these.

He was out at 700mm, so he didn't have to get too close, but still had to work for it.

Sindri, pttenn, rpearce12, andrewhuxman, and sugarzebra......Thanks for the nice comments.

pttenn.....Karen, I set up a blind, with decoys. It's the only way I know to get really close to them.

Great shots. I also enjoy shooting waterfowl and know how hard it is to get those shots when they are exploding off the water.

I love these guys, nice images. I would love the second one to focus more on the head than the feet, but kudos on the timing! :D

Norman, rw2, Gary, Mitch, Gary Fairhead, Anke, Rock......Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment. I'm glad you like the shots.

Anke....The focus on the head is a bit soft, but on that kind of a shot, I'm happy to get what I can.

ROCK.....There are numerous wildlife refuges within an hour and a half of Fresno. Most of them offer great photo opportunities at different times. I frequently check them out to see what birds are hanging around. Mendota, San Luis, Salt Slough, Merced, and several private duck clubs in the south grasslands are loaded with waterfowl after the hunting season ends.
