No editing out of the camera, taken uder sodium lights (custom white balance). I did this to try and test banding - composition critism is not what I'm looking for here. You can click to see the full sized versions.
As far as I can tell the histogram for the scenes suggest an ok exposure. Banding is detectable in the colour shots in the girl's blue top & blue cusion behind the jumping boy. But just look at the blue channel. That would seem to be where the banding is coming from.
OK, this *IS* at 3200, and things get better at lower ISOs (see 1600 example), but how did this kind of thing get through Canon's QC at the design and production testing phases?
Let's hope it's fixed soon, as I don't think my copy is any different from anyone elses (?)
