Well I prefer to shoot manual but this park just wasn't built for it. I decided to shoot AV and play with the settings during my youth baseball portrait/team shots after the last shoot making me wonder as I just wasn't too satisfied - then shot a baseball game in M before switching to AV for a soccer game that I didn't know was scheduled 20 feet from the baseball field. EXIF should be embedded.

#1 - Catcher pose, I do it a bit different for the pro players who want it in there gear but for the little guys they wanted the helmet in there and I thought why not throw a pearl in there glove. Yes a left handed catcher....for these shots went AV and went +1, 0, -1. Kid loved the shot seeing it on the LCD.

#2 - For the most part the kids went with batting shots and wanted to do there batting stance. Before shooting youth photos I always wondered why all the companies did these shots, I never really liked them since I shoot pro (older) players most the time, but then I realized the kids like them and the parents want them. If you've done it you have heard "do your batting stance" or "put your elbow up", etc. etc. Suns behind him, squinting a bit with his smile and not a light in his eye...

#3 - BOB, helmet coming off, actual rotational hitting for a 5/6 year old driving the back hip through and hitting the ball out front in the hitting zone - I coach JV baseball and don't have kids who do this!!

#4 - The ball is in the original photo, I cropped it out as it was only 1/4th the ball and didn't add to the photo just adding dead space. His facial expression is what will sell this photo. Again, he'll hit the ball out front in the zone and look at the hip and foot, I coach at the wrong school!!

#5 - If you hit the ball in play you're safe, I think I saw one out that wasn't a FC (routine grounder to first when he stepped on the bag) and one inning where they didn't go through the whole lineup and have to switch. Coaches for this team teaching good lessons though, I was impressed by there teaching.

#6 - ...then a soccer game broke out....this was pretty far away and cropped in. I have a difficult time shooting this game getting good facial expressions, ball in frame, heads up, etc. Never played or watched it though, that might be one reason .

#7 - Fighting through, literally. This girl went through about 8 players on her way to the goal but the goalie made a sweet stop. The shadows were horrible and had to go AV as some of the field was sunny, some was shade, then the clouds wouldn't help...

#8 - Mom won't be hanging this on the living room wall...think she took it off the chin area.
