Hi All,

These images were taken on a quick visit to Goathland in North Yorkshire, and no visit there is complete without heading down to the station!

All taken with either a 350D + Sigma 10-20 or a 30D + 70-200L f4.

All comments and criticisms appreciated.

It would be a good series, BUT I'd like to see one of the bleedin' loco without something (whatever it is) in front of it?
And I'm not getting the relevance of the angle in #2. I see nothing in the background to warrant it & my eyes go nuts trying to read the sign. ;)
I do like the last one, though.

Hmm... Well I kinda feel like I've been told off by the school headmaster but your opinions and time are very much appreciated and your thoughts noted!

Paul

P.S. The thing in front of the locomotive is used to fill the tender with water. Something very relevent to the operation of steam engines, hence my placing it where I did in the photo. It wasn't intended to be a photo just of the locomotive. :)

I like the very crisp focus and marvelous color on all of these images. Your perspectives are unusual - the coaches being a prime example for me. Good photography, even if I have to get used to the coaches almost tipping over!

Thankyou, Harold. The perspectives are a little unusual I know, but that's what I was actually trying to do. I was experimenting with different angles and trying to get something that caught the eye a little more than just a standard full frame photo of a train. Whether I actually succeeded or not is a matter of opinion, but I had fun with it anyway!

Thanks for your comment.

Hi Paul, I like the PP, colour and detail of the shots, but I'm not a fan of the tilted shots.

Well you certainly got better weather than I usually get. ;)

I like the last one which would also look effective in black/white.

You have some interesting subject matter, but the crazy tilts pretty much ruin the shots. The images are very crisp, but only the last one tells much of a story without inducing seasickness.

Well it's certainly interesting to hear people's thoughts. As I said, I was trying something different just to see if it worked but I guess it didn't, meaning simply that me and my camera will have to go out and do it all again... Which is good! These things have to be tried.

Any thoughts on this slightly more conventional image?

Thankyou for taking the time to reply, all. Your thoughts are all very much appreciated.

OK, great, I've never seen one like that. Still, the locomotive was there, & it would be good to include a shot of it, no?

Well... Surely that's a matter of opinion? I don't understand why things 'have' to be a certain way or why you 'have' to show certain things. They're just photos I took on that day as I felt like taking them. If you don't like them, I respect that and have no problem whatsoever with it!

I'll bear your comments in mind for the future, though.

Paul

It is. You didn't see in the rules that you shouldn't tease the animals? :D
