Hi,

this is my first post. I'm from portugal and I would like to share some AP I took with a 40D and a fluorite telescope.

Cheers,

paulobao

I am always blown away by these kind of shots, and it always makes me want to look into getting a telescope. Then I see the price tags on some of that equipment and I forget all about it. Very impressive shots you have here.

Very nice indeed! I'm looking to get back into astrophotography after a very long layoff, and have been looking at some of those nifty Schmidt-Newtonians put out by Meade. What kind of scope do you use? By fluorite, am I correct in assuming you've got a fluorite glass refractor?

All are outstanding images. Tracking and focus are spot on. Your processing on M104 and 63 is really nice. You went really deep on M27, it appears you have some nice dark skies.

Is your scope a doublet or triplet Flourite? Color corection looks excellent. Can you povide more info on your mount, scope and processing please?

Great to see your work, very impressive.

Thanks
NH

Hello everyone,

Thank you for all your kind words. I started AP just in November 2007 so...I'm still a newbie.
My setup:
-Takahashi FS102NSV Fluorite refractor + reducer (102mm diameter and FL=632mm with reducer;816 mm without)
-Canon 40D (unmodified)
-Takahashi FS60C Fluorite refractor used as a guiding telescope
-CMOS guiding camera
-Orion ATLAS-EQG equatorial mount
-Laptop and lot of software to control all those gizmos

Ok, here some more

Another great set Paulo.

For only being at this a year you're producing some very advanced images. The Veil is very nice. We have similar set ups. My mount is a G-11 and I shoot with A Sky 90 and now use an FS-60C to guide it. I shoot with a 5D and guide with a CCD as well. I shoot with a Vixen R200SS/Sky 90 combo when I want a little more scale.

Which guiding software do you prefer?

Keep the great shots coming, really quality stuff.

NH

Thanks Steve.

I use PHD as my guididing software. Once I used Guidemaster but had some incompatibilities issues with it.

I just want to say again how impressed I am with your shots. Thanks for sharing your set up with us--I'm going to go do some research online to figure out just exactly how you're doing things.

Keep up the good work!

You're welcome Paulo.

I'm using PHD as well and am still working out the settings.

If you get a chance could you please post your PHD settings? I would sure appreciate it. Your mount is behaving excellently and maybe I'm just missing something in mine.

Thanks
NH

Hello Paolo;

Those are just stunning images... very well done...

How long does it take you to post-process once you've captured all the images for stacking?
