i have a lexar 133x 1gig card. when in raw mode it says i cant take about 111 pictures. i recently bought the same card but a 2 gig. and it say i can take about 157 photos. now my thinking was that a 2 gig card could take twice that of the one gig. apparently not. is this normal? or is my 2 gig card bad or something?

Did you change your ISO setting inbetween looking at the figures? That can have a large impact on what your camera reckons it can fit on a card.

If the read-out is anything like the 20D's try going into your menu and going to the format screen... that'll give you a figure as to how much of the card is available.

My 4G can hold twice as much as my 2G...

Just format it. It's cleaner than deleting the images.

Did you format the card before using it? Some cards (including Lexar, I think) have some photo recovery software on it that you need to copy to your PC and delete before using the card.

You can delete raw files in the camera - they come up just the same as jpegs.

Then the files were either from a different camera using a different RAW format or they were in an unexpected directory structure location for the camera to actually see.
