I have never come across this tip on this forum or any other - I was just messing around one day and the results were quite good so I thought I'd share it with you.
OK you have your G5, lens adapter plus the zoom lens. Next you need to purchase a lens hood. For this to work you really need one of the rubber lens hoods, which help to grip the zoom lens.
Attach the adapter to the camera and the lens hood to the adapter (I also had a UV filter attached to the adapter) now turn the Zoom Lens front end first and push it into the lens hood. It won't stay there on its own so you will have to hold it there the suction of the hood helps but its best to always support it with your hands.
Switch the camera to Macro mode and zoom into your subject - I've photographed butterflies and flowers this way and whilst you have to play around a bit the results can be quite effective.

Give it ago - there's nothing too loose.
