Hey Folks,
Here's one I did a few weeks ago...I had meant to post it but got busy with other stuff and didn't remember until tonight when I was setting stuff up to go to the printers.

I'm going to do something I don't usually do on forums...I'm going to post the "before" and "after" here as I had to do quite a bit of work on the colors of this shot. I know there's a couple of blown highlights here and there but I think they're small enough that they're insignificant. The main thing I'm worried about is the color and particularly the sky. I have an awful time with the orange glow from some of those stupid street lights.

Basically I'd like to know how I did and if there's anything I missed.

Before

After

I know it's a little "blue" but that's what I wanted. It's not how the scene "actually looked" but it's how it should have looked in my mind. This shot would probably be a good candidate for an HDR, but doing that much color correction on an HDR is more than I think I really want to put into this! LOL!!!

Thanks for any comments!
Jim

I think you did a fine job of removing the orange colors. Is the orange sky from the streetlights or from the setting sun though?

I love the warm glow of city lights :) They're so cozy. Yeah I know some people think I'm crazy, but I really do love high density urban life.

Hey Deuce,
I'm sure it was from the street lights (and/or from downtown Cleveland in general). I know it sort of looks like it's around sunset but that was more from the long exposure I think since it was an 8 second exposure (wide open at f/5.6). The image was actually shot a good hour after the sunset. One of these days I'll figure out a way of filtering those ugly orange street lights...stupid things hurt my eyes anyways.

BTW for the record, I got the print of this shot back today (the second shot of course) and it really does look quite lovely...I'm very pleased with it considering all the work I put into it.

chauncey,
Thanks for the reference to Stu's work. I looked thru a couple of his shots...I'll go thru more later when I have more time.

Thanks for the comments!
Jim
