Hi all- I'm trying to find a cheap flash for use on a 30D- macro, indoors, etc. I'd like something sort of sturdy- not THAT cheap. I've looked at the Canon 430EX, and that seems to fit my needs. Can anyone recommend a similar, cheaper flash? Metz, Nissin, Sunpak?

Canon 430 is a good call, has ETTL, and is guaranteed compatible with wireless. Something simple and manual like a sunpak 383 will work, but it's pretty much full manual, which is a pain in the butt. Sigma 530 or something will do fine too, but price is the same as a 430.

So really, i've just written the same as what I wrote in the faq :p
