After being poked. prodded, probed, folded, spindled and mutilated, they finally let me go home. I've had so many antibiotics flushed into my blood stream; nothing could live in there now. I have nothing but praise for the nursing staff at Kaiser. I have never been treated as well as this in the few hospital stays I have had in my life. I'd get up to walk; along with R2D2 (my IV pump) and when I'd come back my bed would be remade and ready for me. If I needed something and hit the call button, they were there immediately. My nurse in the ER Tuesday was fantastic. When they needed my room for a patient that needed the heart monitor, my bed was moved to in front of the Nurses station, right next to the alarm computer. The nurse kept running over to silence the alarms and grumbling about the other employees that wouldn't. They finally moved me to a quieter area. Once I got to the ward floor, I was put in a four patient room with two other appendicitis patients and a gentleman who had his prostate gland removed (cancer). The only real problem was "Rooster Boy." One of the patients has a cell phone that crowed like a rooster when it rang and it went off at midnight last night. He then proceeded to chat loudly for 45 minutes in some Asian language. I asked the nurse to have him turn it off or way down. After he and the other appendicitis patient were released this morning, it was so quiet in the room myself and the other fellow fell asleep and I didn't even wake up when the nurse changed my antibiotic drip. I'm tired and it's slow moving around. I'm about to go huddle under a blanket on the couch and watch television. Glad you're back . . . Permagrin wrote in post #5578877 nah, the 24-70 is WAY too short on the 5D. Not at all. It's my favorite 5D lens! Woolburr wrote in post #5578958 I keep hearing all these people saying that they need wider. With the exception of shooting interior real estate shots....I don't know why you would want wide. I can't envisions using a 10-22 or a 16-35 as a walk around lens. The 28-135 was about perfect on a 20D..... Sometimes you can't back up. The Parthenon without the swarms of people around it? 15 on the 5D. Although 12 would have been better. Could have minimized convergences. puddlepirate44 wrote in post #5578972 Neither can I. I've never been good with the literal "big picture". There's so much in the frame it gets distracting to my eye. But, again, that's just me. Gimme details.... Again, if you can't back up, you need UWA. aussieskier wrote in post #5579234 So I am a pretty calm shooter (those of you have have shot with me know I am easy going) But tonight I got a bit frustrated with some people. I had lined up and nice composition and was waiting for people to move out of the way when someone walked and stood right in front of me and didn't move. I thought it was pretty obvious what I was trying to do, and they were completely clueless or just ignored me. Gah, it was frustrating. Tourist 101, Lesson 3: How to aggravate the photographers. Permagrin wrote in post #5579418 I thought that the law only required liability on autos (if they are paid for)? But that's still a choice one makes... Riley, my fav. is the middle one. Nice ![]() Once you've paid for the liability, comprehensive's nothing. Even collision's more. If you can wear a vest, you can wear a kilt. Wrong thread. This is a Leg Lamp Free Zone! (LLFZ) Excellent - it's your fish! Jon

I'm not against UWA lenses, I've been leisurely scoping out 14 mm lenses or similar, it's just that it's not my normal lens. Some people really like the wide vista shots, and for them, the proverbial "walkaround lens is a 16-35 or so. I just can't "see" shots that wide. I tend to ramble. Feel free to put me on ignore.

I went to Disney with only a 17-40 on a 20D thinking it would be fun to travel light....biggest mistake I ever made....way too short to be of any value at all. People that know me call me Dan

I have a 17-35 and my 70-200 that is my "walk around" kit. I could see the 24-105 being nice for walkaround, especially on FF.
