But a reflection that they are not internalizing what we have all told them.... They've been around fire trucks their entire lives... they know what fires are capable of... they've been on fire calls... they've been preached to all the fire safety lessons we know..... That's what bothers me... not the heritage of it... but the fact that as much as they have been educated about it.... they blatently disregarded it... :(

I am very distressed..... MY Children... the children and grandchildren of firefighters... Were BUSTED playing with fire on the back deck.... :( I am one unhappy momma right now...

Calm, rational....explain to them the hazards of their actions. You can be unhappy...but don't go postal with them.

No... I did the ultimate... the sun rises and sets in my father.... So they had to call him and tell him what they did... that was far worse than any form of postal I could have gone.... They are calling my dad back and apologizing and he's talking to them about it now...

Jen, I'm not making light of it...I'm just saying that you keep pouring the info in (and discipline them when they need it) and eventually it'll stick. Right now they are at the age where your "information" is secondary to their fun (which is why there needs to be consequences for their actions as well as instruction in proper behavior).

The hard part is the disappointment we have when our kids do this sort of thing...I understand that.

I forgot to mention that they are often at "that age" until they are 30  If you are lucky, 25 and really lucky, 22.

According to my father 52 isn't out of the question.

very nice Mo :) It's nice to have a low stress wedding and the few shots you've posted in here are very lovely.

I shot the whole thing with the 24-105 :D:D:D First time; I was a tad nervous about using it but it worked out nicely.

They are kids. That's why parents need to have gates around pools and dead bolts at the top of doors. They'll figure it out one day. After they've made a few major mistakes ;)

I think kids are sometimes attracted to fire. Should they have known better, YEP! did they know better, probably. I think you handled it well.

My son once set the bathroom at school on fire, he did it on a challenge aka threat! He had to take a 2 weekend course (basically had to hang out with the firemen) and you know it never came up again, and never did we have a problem again. They just don't understand what their actions can do. That is why they are kids and that is why they need us to raise them!

My parents didn't give me much credit for having a brain until I was 34. I remember the exact age because it was a monumentous moment in my life when they told me how proud theywere of me and my accomplishments. :D

where's the Chief or Pete when I need backup!!

Outnumbered by Windows or Linux users.

......but it's still working properly 6mo later

Is that all? We have a 1995 Windows laptop that, aside from the CD-ROM drive physically failing, is still working. And my Linux box at work is a 1999 Gateway (and those certainly weren't known for stability).

Thanks... it worked. They heard the disappointment in his voice and Alex my little laugh it up was standing in front of me with his eyes FULL of tears.... He REALLY got it.... Sean my sensitive one didn't burst into tears but went to his room and came back calmly a few minutes later stating that he wanted to talk to his Babaw (my dad). They called him, apologized and they talked about it.

Well I would appreciate that one of their major mistakes NOT be burning our house down!!!!:p

Oh my.... glad tonight's episode was only a stick.... My kids eat and breath fire fighters... My dad is a firefighter (30 years next month), I was a firefighter for 9 years, my ex husband was a firefighter... Half my friends the ones that my boys know, are firefighters. Heck they went with me to shoot a fire control class, and my friends talked to them about their gear, and to stay back at a safe distance etc....

Perhaps I need to take away their fire department shirts (they have shirts just like the real firefighters with the station name/number on them) as part of their punishment..... Hmmmmmm.... (The LOVE those shirts...)

I have a Gateway laptop vintage 95 that is still working just fine. And it is the only computer I have left to read floppy disks.
