Someone used to make a specific model...but a lot of people now just use a Lowepro S&F harness/waistbelt system with a small lens pouch attached near the front center and place the base of the monopod in the lens pouch. Once you get it adjusted, it really does work pretty well.

OK...for those folks looking for an update....Jennifer has a blown out disc at L1...the Doctor wanted to do surgery immediately, but they are holding off a couple days so she can go to her son's graduation on Friday. She is resting at home and will update everyone further when she isn't quite so "relaxed".

 How the heck did she blow it out?

there is an art to panning. basic steps to a good pan
1. use a long lens and get as far back as you can this will allow you to move slower than using a short lens from a close distance thus making it easier to get a smooth pan

2. if you can use a mono pod at least to start

3. busy back ground work best lots of spectators is idea as it really ramps up the impression of speed

4. to reduce parallax you need to be shooting as close to a right angle to your self as you can

5. Body posture for hand holding : stand with legs shoulder width apart with feet facing the middle of the ark and twist from the hips

enjoy!

Nice, Dom, thanks. I was going to lurk around to see if I could find some instruction, but I should've realized I wouldn't have to go far with all you gurus around. :D

Moo, All.

You need a panning belt....you collapse your monopod down...and the base fits in a pocket at waist level....takes the weight off your arms, but lets you smoothly pan...even on uneven terrain.

Heck, I was just going to use my belly button, but your idea works, too.

I would try that too...but it would entail removing my lint collection.

I bookmarked it. I won't order it before Sat (because it wouldn't be here before then) and I don't own a belt  but after Sat. I'll know more if I need to go in that direction.

Like I said...I've seen a number of folks that just used a short lens case like the Lowepro 1S.

they'd still need a belt or something...unless Puddle just agreed to be a balancing puddle for me, I'd have to do some shopping to make something workable.

I don't know that you really need anything fancy....a belt and something to stick the base of the pod in is about all that is necessary.
