I'd love some commentary on these two if I could. Both are taken near Placa d' Espanya in Barcelona.

This one is HDR.

This one is not.

#1 is a very exciting shot. Well exposed and good composition, even though the camera had to be tilted up giving a noticeable distortion.

#2 may be sharp as a tack, but it looks very soft and fuzzy, as if it were out of focus.

Either it is the movement of the water that makes it look blurry or it is out of focus. I tried examining it in detail, but at this very low resolution (777 x 353) it is impossible to find anything sharp in the picture.

I think this might be one of those situations in which you want a faster shutter speed, but you can't get it.

I could have probably opened up the aperture a little bit more, but it would have just been a fraction of a step or so as I'm working with the kit lens for the most part. I could have bumped up the ISO I guess, but something just feels wrong about going too far with that. I agree that the 1s exposure makes it look fuzzy, but on the high res, it looks a lot better and more in focus. Thanks for your comments Bob!

my favorite is the 1st out of these. my only suggestion would be to lighten up the dome on the building slightly.

When you say lighten up the dome, do you mean lighten it up relative to the rest of the image or just make the whole image slightly more exposed? While it's an HDR, I don't like the overdone look that a lot of HDR has where everything is bright. Thanks for your comments!

i meant just dodge the dome a little bit. It almost gets lost.

Cool. That's what I was thinking, just wasn't sure. I appreciate it.
