ok, now that I've started selling my images and displaying them up for sale on my site... makes me wonder about the portfolio.

After going through my images, I take out the OOF and bad shots, and i put the rest up for sale on my website. if there's any cropping, it will just be to tighten up the image a little. Basically, if the image is not OOF and there's something to it, I put it up, while among all that I put up, I might have 2 or 3 favorite images.

After making some small sales recently, from my baseball gallery, I have enabled the proof delay on my smugmug account, when I go in to check on the orders, I find that what the parents order are not what I consider a good image, (all thanx to POTN :p)

U guys get what I mean, maybe like the limbs are cut off when i shot them, or you can't see the eyes... little stuff like that when we talk about when C&C are offered. But, even if you can't see the eyes, you can see the player's number...

So, how will that affect my portfolio so to speak? since i put all my work up there, people will just go take a look, and they will not see what i feel are my best work.

I will have like a slide show to display my best work.

What do you guys think?

One photo out of focus is a mistake, ten photo out of focus are an experimentation, one hundred photo out of focus are a style

I have called customers if I felt there was a better shot than the one they ordered and suggest it. I only do that if I know of one without searching the games. Other time I will crop a shot ordered, from landscape to portrait and email them a low res version to see which they prefer. Things like this have led to additional sales.

Have you thought about a gallery such as "My best" , 'My top picks", or "My favorites"
Maybe have a sub gallery like this for each game?

Use a different section as your portfolio.. have a direct link to it for people you are sending to view rather than buy. I do the same as you.. I put all the shots on that I think will sell or tell a story.. I dont purposely put bad shots on but there not all award winners either.. If I think it will sell it goes on :)
