I once investiged a wreck near Amarillo, TX, where a family of five was exterminated when a Santa Fe freight broadsided them in their Mercury Cougar. The train was going 70mph at the time, and they were picking up pieces of the car and its passengers for about a mile. I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Dec 21, 2004 22:14 | #5 Definately a fortunate individual to have not only survived, but to have walked away. This isn't a blind grade crossing, good visibility in both directions. Just shows what can happen if you take your mind off driving even for an instant.

He succeeded in taking his own life, but took those of 7 others with him. Several accidents since have highlighted the dangers of people misusing level crossings, both in ignorance and impatience, and I think there will be a national advertising campaign soon.
