Canon 1.4 extender and 70-200L F4 combo

Anyone have this combination?

I bought the lens and as an after Xmas present to myself I am looking for a 1.4x converter.

On Canon's website; I read this today:

Are You disappointed that the 1,4 extender works with the 70-200 mm f4 L or what?

I have that combination and it works great, here is a sample

Maybe I didn't express my fear..

The website says it will NOT work

I haven't bought the converter yet; but was planning on it soon. I already have the lens...

Do you have the first version of the teleconverter; or the II version?

it works fine with 70-200/4L, but no AF with 100-400L.

Actually it says it will work with

- fixed focal length lenses 135mm and longer (except the 135mm f/2.8 Softfocus lens)
and
- the EF 70-200 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 70-200 f/4.0L, and 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS zoom lenses.

the exception only applies to the 135 mm mentioned in the ().

Ups, forgot to answer that, I have version II but I don't think it matters with regards to which lens it will work with.

the way I read the web site is that the 1.4 DOES work with the 70 - 200.

I am pleased to read that link. I too have the F2.8L 70-200 and I purchased, but have not yet used, the 2X 11 extender.

Tdragone, you have misread Canon's statement. It states that the extender does work with the 70-200f/4.0L. I can confirm that it works from my own experience as well.

Reread the canon site it does say the 1.4 works with the zoom including the 70-200 f4 L

I don't know what you are reading, but this text says it WILL work. Doesn't matter if it's a version I or II. The diff between I and II is mostly a o-ring for weather protection. Some people claim the glass is better, but I wouldn't bet on that one.

Anyway, for a fact, it will work.

What Minimum distance of Focus?

T-Cons do not effect minimum focus distance (no lie)

So.. whatever the manuafacturer lists for the lens itself.
