There is a growing concern about the street children here in Vientiane Laos..I managed to get one frame on this elusive fellow..

Same as with the monk, B&W would be dramatic.

I agree, also a touch noisy. I'd be glad to have a go at a conversion if yogestee will allow.

Wonderful isn't it?? IMHO a little noise adds to this image..1600 ISO by the way..

Here is a mono version..

I think the noise works well. Definitely striking in black and white.

Nice capture

The way he is holding his hands seems to send a message....Was he mimicking you holding the camera ???

Considering my bias toward B&W as a reminder to me of the older technology Tri-X Pan, I prefer the digital color image.

I like the first image very much. It is of the same documentry style as your monk image and they are definitely provokative. The noise doesn't bother me. You're doing good work.

Very nice capture but his face appears a bit soft in my opinion; its as though the camera's focus locked on his hands or shirt instead of his eyes. I'd also consider using a tool like the Shadow/Highlight tool in Photoshop to open up the shadowing around his eye sockets.

What shadowing around his eyes do you mean??

To me the area around the top of his nose bridge and the upper parts of his eye sockets are darker than they ought to be. I'm guessing that your light source was coming from the boy's right side so some shadowing is to be expected as you couldn't use a reflector to direct more light to his face....on my screen I can barely see the pupils of his eyes and the right side of his hair is blocked up.

I agree that some noise is good for this shot, but not as much. Or maybe what I'd like to see is more contrast or black tone in the Black and white. the black and white works well but I want to see the subject pop...I want to see the blackness seep in the photo but make me stand to attention to it, as if he was a secret the rest of the world was hiding.

Another great photo with loads of potential.
