They held a civil war reenactment at a place called Greenfield Village near my home. I thought this guy had the right pose to try some sepia on. I wish I hadn't cut off the bottom of his one foot though.

That's great, he really does look appropriate, I would have liked an angle without the fence or the structure in the BG.... maybe a low shot at an up angle catching him, the tent, and the sky, etc.

But I think if you crop out the box to his right, clone out the structure to the rear the fence will not detract from this image all to much.... it's a great shot though, i like his expression, it really works being an older man, he's got that older and wiser, and weathered appearance.

My humble beginnings: Canon XTI, 17-85 IS, 50mm 1.8

Thanks! You're right about the background. The place was packed and made it very hard to move around to get into just the right angle for any shots I took through out the day. I wish I would of thought about a low shot at an upward angle. They hold this event every year, so maybe next year.

Good shot and atmospheric PP. I'd recommend adding quite a heavy vignette to help concentrate attention on the figure and hide some of the outer clutter (blown leaves, fence etc).
