Help please, my manual doesn't explain this red light and why camera won't go on

I have a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT 350D.

After switching the memory card (CF) there is a red light on next to the letters "CF" down to the right next to the display screen. My manual says nothing about this.

The camera will not turn back on. It was fine earlier today.

Sounds like you may have bent some pins while inserting a new card OR, the card you put in is faulty. Pull the card and inspect the pins in the camera. If nothing seems out of place try a new or different card and see what happens.

Manual says that it is called Access lamp (pages 13 and 27).
I agree with Sikor7, something is wrong with either CF card or CF card pins.
