Hey all,
I am looking to transfer from my current Liberal Arts school to a Photography school withing the next year. It seems like the Art Institutes and the Brooks Institute are my top options.

I personally love the way Brooks sounds, everything from location to description of courses. Does anyone have any comments or info on that school?!?!

Yeah, the average pro photographer's salary in US is reported as 24k.

The average brooks graduate's salary is 25k... and less than half of them are working professionally after graduation. :)

But it does sound like a nice vacation if you forget about the money... or don't compare it to tourist agency prices.

I took a tour of Brooks in April, and it was stunning. The student work was some of the best I've ever seen. The location was absolutley mind blowing, and every student I talked to (on and off campus) was in love with it. I am 100% sold on this school, although it does carry a hefty price tag.

It's definitely not a school to go to if you aren't 100% sure you want to be a photographer. The work is intense and very time consuming.

And as with any school... you only get out what you put in. If you have any questions, feel free to PM or e-mail me. I am in contact with a couple people who went there. Hope I could help!:)

I went to brooks a week after graduating high school in 2004. I was there for 2 years and left at the start of my 3rd. When I began my time there it was absolutely amazing and I will never forget what I learned, but as time went on the goal became more and more about getting students in rather than making photographers out of us. when they were bought by the CEC everything just went downhill.

I'm not trying to be a negative nelly but It was not the same school by the end of my second year, which is why I left.

It used to be amazing.
