Just started experimenting with small birds ... appreciate any advice to improve. Both shots were taken with a Rebel XSi with the 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 IS at about 400mm (x 1.6). I used a tripod and manual focus.
This one was taken late in the afternoon: f/8, 1/50 sec, ISO 100 (perhaps need to tone down the color?)
This one was taken this morning, with fairly bright sunlight. First time I've ever tried to capture a BIF. I was still at f/8, bumped ISO to 400 to get faster shutter speed - this one was at 1/160 sec.
Went back to try some different aperture and ISO settings, but the birds had fled. Appreciate any suggestions on the types of settings I should be trying.
