Well, yes and no... according to the article:

"Even then, data experts Ontrack Data Recovery were able to retrieve photos from the xD and Smartmedia cards." Not that those are mainstream formats though.

I've done that before, they still work.

I even went surfing with a thumb drive in my pocket one time, dried it out, still works!

As titled stated my Gf washed my clothes w/o checking my pockets and i had 2 brand new cards in the case holder in my pockets.

My question is are they ruined?

Which one came out "Whiter and Brighter?"

Let 'em dry .. Try 'em out

Good Luck...

(PS...Does your GF have a sister that does laundry as well?) ;)

Sure - top rack, dry thoroughly. It's a fairly well-known practice.

One of the desk side guys here at work does it all the time... 70% success rate even for the older ones.

Amiga computers were well known for being washable too.

70% is fairly low . . .does that include wireless models? Or maybe it's the detergent he uses . . . Seriously!

Nope - Hardware Guys (external link) (for one thread, many more on that site and others). However if that's where you're spending your time, you'd probably benefit from the tip.
