So this past weekend I shot the Illinois High School State track meet. Luckily, under my contract, I am able to sell all of the 3500 photos I took, as long as it is sold under their name (not a huge problem)

I arranged the photos by event and have sold in the past two days a total of $170 (I'm excited, my goal is $500). Prices I think are reasonable - $4.50 per 4x6, $7 per 5x7 and $12 per 8x10, with a package of one of each for $22, shipping and handling of $5 ---- all of this is about 1/2 of what VIP (the official photographers) sell theirs for.

For marketing, besides being listed on the website, I facebook'd all the runners I knew, and have sent this email out to all the coaches I knew had athletes competing

Coach,
I am a photographer for DyestatIL, formerly Illinois Prep Top Times and a recent graduate of xxxxxxxxxxx where I was also on the track and cross country teams all four years. I was at the Boy’s State Track meet this weekend, and took over 3500 photos of almost every event during both prelims and finals. Due to the new press ruling, I am allowed to sell these photos, although I could not advertise at the state meet.
If any parents of the athletes are interested in purchasing reasonably-priced photos of their sons, please ask them to look at my gallery, organized by each event. Before any order is printed, I review the photos and will edit them to make sure the prints are of the highest quality.
The gallery is located here http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/storesearch.aspx?p=56995 (external link)
Thank you, and I would like to congratulate you and your athletes for such a successful season!
Brandon

Any other ideas on how to generate revenue? I was not allowed to advertise on site.

have a bunch of your friends go, and have them stnading around talking about how good your photos are to random people. Works for me! It's not really advertising

Always email athletic directors, they tend to have a newsletter setup that they can mass email parents with. One of my emails to a athletic director got my link put on the sports section of their school website, along with some site up near Chicago. I think it was Warren Township Highschool or something like that.

If you had some people from Southern Illinois up there let me know, I have a huge list of all the athletic directors down here. Benton, Marion, Murphysboro, Carbondale, West Frankfort and so on............

Did you sign a contract with the newspaper/site you took the pictures for? I would sell stuff like cut out statue deals (http://www.imagecuts.com/Imagecuts/ (external link)) and other stuff like that. Although you are selling for half, VIP gets advertising on the IHSA website, they will without a doubt sell more with that link lol.
