Looks like B&H (external link) has it in stock now, too.

Interesting. B&H seems to be the first legitimate (read: authorized) US dealer to get this lens in. Nice find.

Also interesting that while this lens lacks the "EX" designation and the 4 year warranty of EX lenses, this lens has a 4 year warranty included. Non-EX lenses usually get a 1 year warranty.

Oh well. Better for us.

aghhhhhhhhh, Do I go with the 120-400, or go all out and get the 150-500 ??? There's some shots in DPReview of a guy in NYC who got some great shots with his 120-400 (on a 5D and 40D), and the shots on Flickr look pretty good with the 150-500. Figured if I'm gonna go long, GO L-O-N---------------G
Then I'd have 50x zoom!

Mine's on its way. Will be here tomorrow afternoon - just in time for my trip to Kenya. :D

Tony, you'll be the first POTN'er to report on it. Did you get it from BH? I'm most interested in its 400mm and 500mm wide open shots.

I hear that Lightrules is the man to test it. I am steadly chewing my nails waiting for his review on this lens or anyone that seems like a trust worthy person here... Money burning hole in pocket.

I will sure try to get a few shots posted. I'm dealing with a sprinkler system problem (nothing like spring in Colorado to find all the broken lines and valves on a poorly-designed system) and need to pack my gear. I'll certainly bang a few shots with the lens before I lug it with me half way across the planet.

Yes, B&H. Called it in to be absolutely certain it could be here tomorrow (I leave early Thursday). I'll be sure to include a few at these FLs wide-open (and a stop down). Hope I get a good copy. No time to get focus issues resolved (fingers crossed).

No, it's 6.3 at 400mm. There was a japanese site with a table (sorry, forgot the URL). And yes, this was a disappointment for me too.

True. However it looks like Sigma made an error on their lens chart at their site. It refers to the lens as an 'EX'. I copied a portion of the page, because I imagine eventually they will discover the error and correct the page linked here.

I've attached a table with F number vs. focal length for both Sigma 150-500 & 120-400.
As you can see the 150-500 is f/6.3 all the way up from 300mm ( disappointing ).
