Hi all,

I currently have an old 380EX which I use when needed on either my 400D or 10D bodies. I realise this is quite an old flash unit and doesn't have all the features of most modern flashlights but since I mainly shoot sport or non flash work it hasn't effected me too greatly (although I have been frustrated at times!). I can get a very good price on a 420EX, and was hoping that someone with a little more flashlight expertise than I could tell me if it is worth upgrading to this unit?

I realise on benefit would be that the 420 can be used as a slave unit whereas the 380 could not. Is ther many other benefits?

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

The 430EX is a better upgrade, but I guess it depends on how good of a deal the 420EX is. How much can you get the 420EX for?

Even though the 420EX can be used as a slave, I think it is Auto only, and can not be used as a Manual flash. The 430EX can be both Auto and Manual and might suit your needs more.
