No need to be concerned. The version of the camera profile simply shows when the camera model was profiled and first supported in ACR. So in your case, support for the 30D was added to ACR in version 3.4. But recently Adobe has been updating some of the older, and somewhat inaccurate, camera profiles and apparently the 30D profiles were adjusted in ACR 4.4.1/Lightroom 1.4.1. The newer profiles only show up in images that have not been previously edited.
Are you really using Lightroom 1.4? I hope that just a typo because that release was pulled by Adobe; use Lightroom 1.4.1 instead. Also, have you updated your Camera Raw plug-in to 4.4.1?
EDIT:
Here's a portion of the Camera Raw 4.4.1 Readme file that addresses this question:
Camera Raw 4.4
• Previous camera profiles identified in the Calibrate panel may have displayed poor results at extreme
ends of the temperature and tint ranges. A new camera profile identified as Camera Raw 4.4 is
now available and will be applied by default to all images currently without existing Camera Raw
or Lightroom settings. The creation of new default settings will also include the updated Camera
Raw 4.4 profile. Images edited in Camera Raw or Lightroom with earlier profiles will retain the
earlier profile value and visual appearance.
• All version of Camera Raw 4 are unable to open files with dimensions greater than 10,000 pixels
on one side.
• Lightroom and Camera Raw will be updated together to ensure raw format and settings compatibility.
