Just monkeying around here for a bit, before the wife and I leave for a dinner party. I was lying in bed last night wondering what would happen if I changed the gradient on the quick mask from a horizontal position, to a vertical.

Of course it kills that feeling of "I'm looking down at a teeny tiny model", but still renders (in my humble opinion) sort of a neat effect. Neither of these two pictures are very great, and I was shooting with a bright mid-day sun that sort of washed everything out. Weekend visit to NYC, 2008.

Now I want to mess around with some of the other gradient effects.

Times Square

....

Top of the Rock, looking towards The Empire State Building.

....

Doesn't quite work as a model, as you say, but still a nice effect.

Can't quite decide on the normal shot and the panoramic.

Hmmm... hard to decide with them stacked like that, but I'd vote for the panoramic. Either way, you'll have a lovely picture! :)

Yeah, I thought they were too close together in the post. Thanks :)

I like the normal shot better. For some reason it looks more miniature to me than the pano.

i go with pano too... it's harder to tell the sky is blurred in the full shot to me. The sky just looks "off" or something. Nice one Anke.

Ayman86 - love the water (it looks like a sheet of glass). For a low angle shot, it's excellent. Did you do anything special with the PP?

my first try

QUOTED IMAGE

Nice attempt, although looking at it there seems to be some people by the water, if the line of focus passed through them it might look more model-like. Give it a try. :)

Nice ones AAAGoGo. Have you Un-sharped masked that center horizontal?

I love them, but I want the middle to reach out and grab me by the collar. Lovely pics.
