But with people though - wouldn't it just come out looking like you used a shallow depth of field - great bokeh? I don't see how it'd "shrink" the person.

I could be wrong though...

You might be able to spend (alot) more time on a portrait in PS to soften the skin, yet harden the edges, and still fuss with the color saturation, to make it look like a vinyl model/figurine... you know, like the comic book shops sell... But I then it may venture further than "tiltshift"...

This is what I was thinking.

Me too.

There have been a few attempts at the effect we're going for within this thread that came as close as I can imagine to "working" - for example, posts #66, #89, #99, etc - and the main similarity is that the people are too small to have any clear details.
Which is exactly what large models of towns, villages, race-circuits have - people with few details.
So I feel that's the direction to go in....not close-ups with a ton of extra blur.

Thoughts guys?

Thanks Matt...and I'm happy to report we leave TOMORROW for our road-trip to Hiroshima.

Fingers-crossed I can get the shots I want of the Atomic Bomb Dome museum from above, and turn it into a mini version!!!!!!

Catch you all in 9 days (the parents-in-law don't have internet access...:()

^^^ Pretty nice 59, and welcome to Tilt + Shift.

Maybe a tad more saturation after playing with the levels perhaps?
