I have talked with Canon, went through all of their suggestions. I have done every step in the guidebook at least 3 times. I have gone to Toshiba, and still no help. This is my 2nd brand new SD1100 IS. I sent back the first one thinking it was the camera. My husband also has Vista Home Premium and it worked on his!
PLEASE, I WILL TRY ANYTHING!!!

Do you and your husband have the same brand and model computer? Did you use Administrative privileges when you installed Canon's software? Have you tried more than one USB port on your computer? As a last resory, you can use an SD card reader to transfer the files; it's also generally faster than a camera-to-computer transfer and won't use the camera's batteries.

Do you use a 64 bit edition? The camera is not compatible in the 64 bit editions.

Is the camera listed in the Device Manager? Click Start and begin typing "Device Manager" If it is listed without an error you should be able to download.

Have you tried using Vista (not Canon software) to download?

Is will probably be easiest and quickest to call Canon.

We both have a Toshiba computer, but mine is a A215-7428, and his is a A105 series. I do use Administrator privileges, yet I have UAC turned off. I tried every USB port on my computer, but it did not do anything. I went to Device Manager and had a "unknown device "come up, so I updated the driver (it had a yellow exclamation), but it said error in completing the driver install. I also uninstalled and re-installed, but no help. Thanks for trying
