Here are a few shots from my son's soccer tournament this past weekend. It's my second attempt with the 55-250mm IS. I went with the aperture priority this time instead of the shutter speed. Please give me some C&C.

Thanks,

Theron

Now it looks like you moved to Mike Rose. That is really a nice complex.

These pictures are much better but still a touch soft, at least to me. How much are they cropped? What focus mode did you use?

Rotate to portrait and zoom in to help isolate the player. Way too much dead space.

Remember............... shoot tight and crop tighter. And get low, looks like some you may have been standing. Good start.

Nice shots, just need to crop closer as already metioned. Nice work.

Thanks for the remarks. I was using the Al Servo with the ISO mainly around 200, but some shots I changed to 400. I'll try sitting on the ground next time. I did use a mono pod at the game.

Now, for some dumb questions.

1. What is the best way to keep pictures from being "soft". I'm assuming that by being soft that they lack good color?

2. I see many folks saying that this picture is 100% crop. Not to sure what they mean by that. I have been cropping the pictures until I thought they looked good. Would someone crop one of the pictures to give me an idea of what they consider good.

By soft they mean they are not sharp and crisp, its not the colour.
