I finally outgrew my smallish bag, after getting a speedlite.

Looking at the bigger bags, but they all seem to scream "Steal me ! Expensive equipment inside !"

Yesterday I was at the local Rite Aid when I saw a really cheap solution - an insulated cooler bag ! The insulation (foam-filled plastic liner, about 1/2" thick) would provide excellent impact protection, the bag is big enough to carry a camera, a couple of lenses and external flash, and no self-respecting thief would ever steal a cooler. Now I just need to build up enough courage to walk around with a $7 cooler... I feel though I'll end up staying inside the box and buying something else...

What a great idea! I am just looking for a bag to carry my new stuff in. Have a Lowerpro Microtrekker but need something else as well...and I think a bigger backpack would be too big for me. Thanks for the idea!

This has been brought up so many times and since no one has mentioned it here, you may have to worry about moisture build up the fact once in there it will not go away (without your knowledge) and ruin whatever you have in there.

All my DIY bags can be had for less than $30 the most recent was only $15

OK, so I would also have to get a Nascar t-shirt, Nascar glasses, Nascar baseball cap, beer, folding chair, probably have to get a couple of teeth surgically removed as well ? Now all of a sudden it doesn't seem as cheap anymore, does it ? I think I have to fall on my backup plan - a diaper bag !

not all nascar fans are rednecks.

You know some of those diaper bags they make these days are pretty handy with a lot of compartments....it may work.

I didn't imply they all were, however those who aren't don't seem to contribute much to the general atmosphere... I think we were talking about culture not individuals. Anyway, didn't want to offend anybody in the first place, apologies if I did.

I have picked up some pretty nice coolers that have been left behind after races.
