I do boudoir photography for ordinary women (no professional models here) and I always do a pre-photoshoot consultation to answer their questions and prep them for their shoot. One of the main points I try to get across when talking about make-up (if they decide to do it themselves) is that glittery, shimmery and shiny make-up always comes across more shiny on camera. I tell them to think matte or subtle shimmer and to apply a layer of powder over their foundation (if they are using liquid/cream).
I mean, a little shimmer isn't bad and can actually make the photo look really great. HOWEVER, I had 2 women come to my studio yesterday and one of them went crazy on the shimmer. Her entire face was dewy to start and very shiny without even being on camera. I kept trying to adjust the lighting but I just couldn't figure it out and almost all her photos have "hot spots" on her cheeks, forehead and nose. When I do some skin smoothing it helps with how strong they are, but is there a way to light clients like that so i can reduce how shimmery/shiny it comes across on camera? She didn't have powder, so when I suggested she put some powder on she was out of luck.
Is there anything in photoshop I can do to help this? The other woman there didn't have any of these issues on her photos.
Any help with this?
