550 EX -- Does it have a PC connection built in?

No, the 550EX does not have a PC port built in. AAMOF, none of the EX flashes do except the 580EX II. You can get a hotshoe adapter which will allow you to use a PC plug with the flash, though.

That, to put it mildly, sucks. I have tried two different hot shoe adaptors, and they all catch the pins on my 430 EX.

Thanks for the info, though.

The pins are spring loaded so they should "give way" and allow you to mount them into the hot shoe adapter.
