On the y-cord, 2nd and 3rd from the bottom, would it work to have the left cord a female hotshoe, then one right cord a female hotshoe and the other right cord a miniphone? Or does the miniphone need to be on the left side/by itself to work right (as pictured)?

It really doesn't matter what plug or hotshoe is where. They're all connected in parallel. As long as the ends reach where they need to be, that's all that counts. :)
