Nice catch! We haven't had a woodpecker on ours yet, but the House Finches use our Oriole feeders more than the Orioles do. We've also had Hummingbirds, Robins, Goldfinches, and even a Cardinal eating from our Oriole feeder.

You're missing proper signage. How are the birds to know?

Well, he looks quite happy with his sugar water. Probably gives him the extra energy to fight off the other males. :)

My mom has downys at her oriole feeder quite often. I've seen then go to trumpet vines also.

What are those orange things over the holes? I had a feeder like that but it didn't have those and I didn't have any orioles either.

Everyday use: 7D2, 1.4x v3 Canon TC (sometimes the 2x v2 Canon TC), Canon 500mm f4 L IS USM; 6D, 24-105L

I have a number of Orioles this year, versus two last year. They only like one thing, cheap grape jelly in a small cup. I bought a Oriole feeder this spring, filled it with the sugar water mix and they ignore it, the few hummers like it though. Go figure.

Plastic .. pictures glued Wait Listen ... I had a feeder like that but it didn't have those and I didn't have any orioles either.

Listen...............

OK.......This Oriel feeder has PEG LEGS attached .. Ihad too screw them on . Literally a screw driver .......
Here is what they they do ...

The peg legs have a circle that drops{ that little feed circle } .. only with weight upon a bird therefore no bees .

I never thought while putting this bird feeder would a Oriel find a hole , So..SMALL

however ... the hole is so small and instramental upon weight that it will only work with a bird the size and weight ... hmmm I guess the woodpecker weighs the same as an Oriel BUT NOT A BEE its closed .

Its a CLEAN FEEDER ......
