One of the great things about wildfowl in public parks is that they can be easy to approach!

All with the 40D and 100-400mm, handheld.

It's really important to me that my bird images should look really natural, and not over-contrasty and over-sharpened.

I think my 40D and the 100-400mm do a wonderful job, because the resulting images need very little post processing - a little bit of capture sharpening on conversion from RAW (with Raw Therapee or Capture One 4), and a bit more presentation sharpening after I've cropped and resized (using Paint Shop Pro - I love its "Focus" sharpening algorithm) and I'm done.

Fairly uninspiring subject matter, I admit - beggars can't always be choosers - but I thought that in terms of image quality and sharpness this was a pretty nice collection.

Thanks all.

I definitely like them. Just my attempt at humor....
