This is a shot my wife took of here best friend shortly before she passed away last year. I have spent some time editing but does anyone else have any input.

I am getting all of my pic's into Lightroom and came across this. I would like to print this for my wife and her friends family.

You know, I like the beach chair in the picture and how small she is. I think the thing that is really bothering me is the twig sticking up next to the chair.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I like the two crops that were offered. I think that one little lone branch and the beach ahri on the left side is a bit distracting.

Better ... but I still like the cropped versions a bit better.

Given the situation, I'm not sure you need to emphasize the "empty" chair (just a thought).

Here's your original crop with a bit of cloning and light balance.

Wanted to leave no doubt about the focus point.

It is a rather severe crop.

Wanted to give this a go.

I like this photo. It makes me wonder what she's writing down there on the beach all by herself.

I left the chair in, but I moved it out from behind the leaves and cloned out the one branch sticking out. I also thought maybe it would look good in black and white.

i like the original crop, and i don't think it needs really any pp work except for editing that branch out. i like the original colors. it's a very nice picture.

I would prefer one without the foreground.

std::cout << "POTN is the best." << std::endl;
return 0; }

The chair and the lady ARE the message, and knowing the story, the chair adds great impact.

Relocating the chair improves the image IMO, and it would be nice if the foreground foliage could be removed as suggested by Ghosh. Anyone good at cloning sand?

With an emotional image, paring down to the bare essentials increases the impact.

I like LeuceDeuce's version with the branch cloned out. Given that she has passed, I think the composition as it stands is quite poignant and poetic. In fact, if you found suitable lines of poetry, you might consider adding them to the water, as in the attached, although I make no claims about poetic expertise.
