Question

I recently recieved some old macro ring light made by Sunpak.I use it fully manual and it works great except for one thing-reflection(waterdrops have litlle rings of light and insects got light ring in the eyes) .The plastic in front of the light bulb is not milky diffused but clearly transparently.My question is how to diffuse that light, is there some diffuser that i can buy or i have to make myself and if i have to do it myself do you have any interesting idea?

.if your using ring flashes your always get that reflection no matter what u do.u could try tissue over the bulbs but im sure it wont do alot.

yeah a macro ring flash will do that, i for one, like the highlights left by the flash, try shooting at a smaller aperture like f 16 and see if it makes a "star" might look cool! if you really want great light with out reflections, use a flash, off cam with a diffuser..

It's a great area to experiment ! Try different plastic, different sizes. Read on the Forum and you'll discover many trying a lot of approaches. There doesn't seem to be a magic answer. But, there are some interesting solutions, and some great results ! I look forward to your results, and telling us about your diffuser !

This is a known issue with ringligts, a particular problem with the reflections in jumping spider's eyes for example. The MT-24EX is better in this respect although you do still see a double highlight although I find this less disturbing IMHO.
