US 5d charger using european adapter?

Am worried about using an european adapter with CG-580 charger.

I know that it should work fine - it's just terrifying and I need some reassurance . . . . Have read some negative reports about battery's not charging properly and damaging the camera.
Can anyone who has done this tell me how they got on?
Thanks so much
C

I've used my charger for 20D in Asia and Europe. I would check but almost all chargers/power adapters for laptop computers, cameras, and other electronic devices are now dual voltage (those sold in the US).

look on the area where it says it's info like power draw and such, and check what the voltage range is, if it includes 240v you are fine

I just got a basic converter from Target and it worked fine in charging my 40D batteries throughout France & Italy.

It'll be fine. Just use a simple adapter and not an actual power converter

The CG-580 can handle it (100V-240V AND 50/60Hz (external link)).

Remember, all you need is an adapter (should be anywhere from $1 to $3 depending on where you shop)...not a voltage "converter/inverter".

A Sonicare toothbrush charger is another story ;)

Works fine - my 5d is a US model so I have a US charger, and I just have a simple and cheap adaptor.

Not great at the moment! We had some really great weather a couple of weeks ago but now pretty grey and wet. I think our summer is over already!

Same here, I live in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the voltage oscillates quite a bit, never had a problem. I just use the little adapter that converts the flats in to rounds .50 USD.
